Addison was a farmer in Cardington, Morrow County, Ohio.
 On 29 May 1862, he enlisted in Co. C, 85th Ohio Infantry Regiment. Because of medical problems, particularly involving his kidneys, he was given a Medical Discharge on 23 September 1862, thereby serving less than 4 months.
 Addison later became a Notary Public and Pension Attorney. He was the Enumerator for the 1890 Census of Cardington Township.

Eber was living in Iowa Hill Township, Placer County, California, at the outset of the Civil War. He was a policeman in that town (1860 Census M653, Roll 62, Page 868). He enlisted in the Army on 24 December 1862. On 20 February 1864, he was assigned to Co. B, 4th California Infantry, in which he served until 4 December 1865, at which time he was mustered out at The Presidio in San Francisco. The 4th California served mainly in the western States and Territories (California, Oregon, Washington, Arizona and New Mexico), battling Native American tribes. The unit's major battles were on 15 May 1863 at La Paz, New Mexico; 22 May 1863 at Fort Yuma, California; and 29 October 1865 at Harney Lake, Oregon (see the AMERICAN CIVIL WAR SOLDIERS database for maore information about the 4th California).
 He was serving as a policeman in Marion, Ohio, at the time of his marriage to Jennie (1880). In later years, he worked as a machinist (1900).
 Linda Dietz ("Our Family History" [op.cit.]) reports on a "Marion Star" announcement of Eber's death, reported in the 1 July 1921 edition of that newspaper.
