Jacob was a stage driver in Effingham, New Hampshire (1860). After moving to Lynn, Massachusetts, prior to 1870 (where he lived the rest of his life), he worked several years as a railroad conductor for the Boston & Maine Railroad.

George and May lived in Lynn, Massachusetts, until sometime in the 1890's, when they moved to Brenham, Texas, to operate a farm. They divorced about 1901. He moved to Harris County, Texas, married Anna in 1902, and ran a dairy farm. She moved to Chicago with son, Ralph, and daughter, Hazel.
