Byron's granddaughter, Cathy, says of Byron, "He was a special treat to be around. One of his favorite things was to eat homemade baked bread. He lived his last several years with his son Byron B. in Austin, Texas. Whenever I would go see my mother and father-in-law, G-grandpa would ask me 'when are you going to make me some bread, little sister.'
When you asked him how he was feeling, he would rub his thumb and forefinger together to indicate he was feeling with his fingers.
Grandpa had selective selective hearing with the best of them, trust me. No matter how low the comment, if it was about him, he always heard it. Other times he would ask 'huh' repeatedly.
Grandpa died of hardening of the arteries at the awesome age of 92 in a hospital in Austin, Texas. He outlived all but one of his childen."
