Mariah's parents were born in Virginia, according to her census entry in the 1910 Census of East Omak, WA (NARA Microcopy T624, Roll 1667, E.D. 122, Page 86A). At the time, she was a widow. and was living with her daughter, Mary, and Mary's husband, Frank D. Perry.

Clarence was a farmer in Omak, Okanogan County, Washington. In 1920, he was lodging with the Frank D. Perry family in Omak, and claimed to be widowed (NARA Microcopy T625, Roll 1934, Vol. 29, E.D. 95, Page 203B). From the 1930 Census of Omak [op.cit.], wherein he claims to be aged 62, he claims to have gotten married when he was 47 years old (about 1915). Living with him at the time was an 18-year-old adopted daughter, Lois.

Noah was a farmer. During the early 1860's, they left Maine and moved to Iowa. In 1880, they were living in Lyon, Hamilton County, Iowa. By the time of the 1880 Census, their family had grown from the five children they had while living in Maine, to include four more born in Iowa (NARA Microcopy T-9, Roll 342, Page 231B).
