In 1880, in Coventry, Rhode Island, he worked as a clerk in a store (possibly the same dry goods store, as before). In 1900, living in Cranston, Rhode Island, Benjamin stated his occupation as "electrician." By 1930, he referred to himself as a dry goods salesman again.
