David's first wife, Cynthia Schrage, left David and Anthony shortly after Anthony was born, and re-settled in Wisconsin. David and Cynthia were divorced in 1987. His second marriage was to Barbara Jenkins. This was her second marriage, also. By her first marriage (to Todd Kilgore), she had three children: Jennifer, Ryan and Angela.
This marriage ended in divorce in 1994.

David and Tamara ("Tami") were married 4 March 1996 in Huntington. She attended Huntington Beauty College, while working at Allied Signal in Huntington. By 2000, she was employed at a beauty shop in Columbia City, Whitley County, Indiana. They live in Roanoke, Indiana.
TAMI'S PARENTS: Tobie was born 3 June 1945 in Portland, Jay County, Indiana. He suffered a heart attack and died 5 January 1997 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Fort Wayne. Susan was born 30 June 1946 at Wabash, Wabash County, Indiana. She and Tobie were married 29 June 1963 in Wabash. They lived for a few years at North Manchester, Wabash County. Tobie was disabled, so he spent most of his time as the manager of a church-sponsored food pantry in North Manchester. In 1996, he and Sue were honored for their volunteer work at that food pantry.

David graduated from high school at Tecumseh, Lenawee County, Michigan. After the Scribner family moved to Indiana in November of 1982, David enrolled at Ivy Tech State College in Fort Wayne, where he earned an Associate's Degree in Auto Mechanics. He worked for a few years at Dorman Tire Co. in Fort Wayne before that business closed. Then, he went to work in the maintenance division at Bendix Co. in Huntington, which soon became Allied Signal, and then Honeywell. In 2000, David enrolled in a weekend college program at St. Francis College in Fort Wayne.

After graduating from Paris High School in 1954 (as Salutatorian of her class), Ruth worked for 13 years as Office Manager for Dr. Robert Easton, a Norway dentist.

She was very active in the South Paris Baptist Church, teaching Sunday School and playing piano for the Sunday evening services, among other volunteer activities: Financial Secretary, Benevolence Treasurer, Christ Education Board member, and Sunday School Primary Department Superintendent. Her high school class had named her "the most most courteous girl in the class." She was also active in the local 4-H Club.

Once, when a self-appointed matchmaker offered to introduce Ruth to a young man, her response was "You needn't bother."

Ruth was very interested in Knightly Family History, and did extensive research. Much of the information she uncovered is included in this database.

When the family was living in Michigan, she worked for two dentists in Adrian, Michigan. Then, while Ray was Pastor of First United Church of Christ in Huntington, Indiana, Ruth was the church's Office Secretary. Her involvement in church life continued as she served in positions of leadership with the Women's Fellowship of St. Peter's First UCC, Huntington, and the Women of the Northeast (Indiana) Association of the United Church of Christ.

"Memories of her parents include faithfulness, integrity, strength of character, kindness, concern for others and over-all qualities shown by their forebears. Certainly Ruth exemplified these and her influence still lives. The personal walk with Jesus tells its own story" (Dale and Evangeline Polland).

She was very well-liked and respected. At the visitation at the funeral home on 6 October, many of the 300+ persons who came spoke highly of her as "the perfect pastor's wife," "a joy to know," "a real lady," and other glowing terms.

 In every heart she touched,
 In every life she changed,
 In every thought she inspired,
 Her love lives on.

 She will never be forgotten.
Her kindness, her humor, her friendship lives on
in the hearts of those who knew her.
 And as we remember her,
we realize that our lives will never be the same --
not because of our loss at her passing,
but because of all we have gained through her living.

Jason and his first wife, Monica, divorced in 1995. He is a computer specialist with GE Capital Co., a division of General Electric Corp. in Fort Wayne.
Esther graduated from Huntington North High School in 1985. During her senior year, she worked part-time at the Huntington First National Bank. Upon her graduation, she went to work full-time at the bank. In only a short time, she "rose through the ranks" from teller to Supervisor of the Bookkeeping Department to Auditing Specialist with responsibility for the Huntington Bank and two other Huntington County banks connected with it. In the late 1990's, the Huntington Bank was purchased by Fort Wayne National Bank, then, in a short time, by a large out-of-state banking corporation. With the "down-sizing" that soon followed, Esther lost her job. She then devoted herself to being a stay-at-home mother and homemaker. In 2003, with the children all in school, she took a part-time position (which, in a few months, became full-time) with the Youth Services Bureau in Huntington.
