We're not sure about Alice's last name. Savage's A GENEALOGICAL DICTIONARY OF THE FIRST SETTLERS OF NEW ENGLAND, 3, 109 [op.cit.] speaks of her as Alice STEVENS, who married Robert LONG. Torrey, in NEW ENGLAND MARRIAGES PRIOR TO 1700, 471 [op.cit.], lists the marriage of Robert LONG and Alice SHORT?/STEVENS?. VITAL RECORDS OF NEWBURY MASSACHUSETTS Vol. 2, 296 [op.cit.] records the marriage of Robert LONG and Alice SHORT. It would be easier to determine which is correct if she had been married before her marriage to Robert, but there is no record of such a marriage.
