Jesse operated the Scribner's Mill all of his (more than 70 ) working years. In the early 1890's, he and brother Bourdon went to Florida and built a mill on the St. Johns River near Palatka in Putnam County. It was not a profitable venture for them. So, when they learned that floods in Maine in 1896 had damaged the mills at home, they returned to Maine and left the Florida mill "to the mercies of the jungle." They never went back.
Each summer for several years, Jesse and family would make a ten-day trip to Canada and several other places.
On 12 April 2001, the Scribner's Mill Homestead was entered in the National Register of Historic Places. A news article in the "Bridgton News" states that this site is "important as a glimpse into the social history of a rural household that was also intimately connected with the operation of a small-scale industrial facility." Every year in early August, a "Back to the Past" weekend is held at Scribner's Mill. Persons attend from throughout the United States.

Edward was a lumberman, and a log and lumber scaler for L.C. Andrews Company in South Windham, Maine, until his retirement. He had been Past Master of Crooked River Grange in Bolster's Mills, and, at the time of his death, had been the oldest living Past Master of Crooked River Masonic Lodge.The last years of his life were spent living with, and being cared for by, daughter Lucy in Bangor.

William graduated from Colby College in 1919. During World War I, he was an instructor at Fort Devens, Massachusetts. During World War II, he was a supervisor at the South Portland Shipyard, as well as at other shipyards on the east coast. After the war, he worked as a lumberman for many years, retiring in 1958. During those years, he supervised the building of the beautiful Norway Country Club and its golf course.

"Skip" graduated from Norway (ME) High School in 1944, and from Maine Maritime Academy at Castine in 1945. Then, he worked for 22 years at Pratt and Whitney Aircraft in East Hartford, Connecticut. He returned to Maine and worked at Hanover Dowel Company in Bethel, before retiring in 1987. He was well-known for gem-cutting work and his one-of-a-kind gemstones.

Phyllis graduated from Norway High School. Her first job was as an x-ray technician for several years for Dr. McCormick, a Norway dentist. Her involvement with the Headstart Program on Mt. Desert encouraged her to return to college, at age 40, to earn a teaching degree. An exceptional cook, she made and sold baked goods in order to buy a Volkswagen "Beetle," in which she made the daily 1 1/2 hour commute to college. Phyllis and her sisters, Lucy and Catherine, cooperate on an annual quilt project. The quilt is auctioned at the annual "Back to the Past" event held at Historic Scribner's Mill in Bolster's Mills, Maine.
