Harry and Nellie lived in Finney County, Kansas, for a few years following their marriage in that state. He was a farmer there. By 1910, they had moved to Waco, Texas, where he had a job as a bookkeeper. They lived in Waco for many years before moving to El Paso before 1930. Harry worked there as an insurance salesman.
Four of their six children were born in Kansas by 1900. After a few years in Waco, they had another son and daughter.

In 1918 (when he registered for the World War I Draft in Burlington), Frank was working at the Rock Island Arsenal in Illinois. They moved to Highland Park, Michigan, by 1920. There, he worked as a clerk in one of the auto factories. By 1930, they had returned to Burlington, Iowa. That year, he was employed as a collector for a clothing company.
His name on his World War I Draft Registration is misread to read John Barrows Martin.

Lawrence, a graduate of Iowa State University, was a mechanical engineer. In 1910, he and Olive were living in Burlington, where he was employed as a railroad engineer. In 1917 (when he registered for the World War I Draft), he was working for the International Harvester Company. By 1930, they were living in South Bend, Indiana. He was an inspector for an automaker there (very likely, the Studebaker Company).
