Ralph joined the U.S. Army and, in 1910, was stationed at The Presidio in Monterey, California. He and Mary were married in 1910 and settled in San Pablo, Contra Costa County, where he worked as a steward in a hospital there. By 1930, they had moved to Brighton, Sacramento County, where he worked for the local Gas and Electric Company. Mary worked at a cannery. Their last years were spent in the City of Sacramento, California.

Preston served in the U.S. Army in World War II, being discharged in 1945. During the 1960's, he was a full-time deputy sheriff in Waldo County. However, he was mostly a farmer and cattle dealer. His memberships included the Maine State Grange (over 50 years), the American Legion and the Masonic Lodge.

Norwood was self-employed as a demolition contractor. He served in the U.S. Army's 29th Infantry in Europe during World War II. After the war, he was caretaker at the Keep Estate in Camden for a while, before becoming caretaker for Ambrose and Mary Cramer for 36 years. He retired in 1989. Norwood was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Rockland Ward, holding the position of high priest.
