Harvey was working as Station Agent at Medford, Maine, for the famous Bangor and Aroostook Railroad, when he registered for the World War I Draft. He then enlisted in the U.S. Army at Bangor on 14 June 1917, and served in the Signal Corps. He was promoted top Corporal 21 November 1918, while serving in England, where he was stationed 11 July 1918-27 May 1919. He was honorably discharged on 2 June 1919. After the war, he resumed his employment with the Bangor and Aroostook Railroad.

Brian enlisted in the Maine National Guard at Millinocket on 24 February 1941. He was a 1950 graduate of the University of Maine, where he was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity. He was also in the American Legion, Disabled American Veterans and the Masonic Lodge.

Warren was inducted into the U.S. Army at Dover, Maine, on 28 April 1918. He served in England with the Army Engineers, and was honorably discharged 21 June 1919.
In 1930, Warren and Marydel were living in Royal Oak, Michigan. He worked as a clerk in an auto factory. With them were their daughter, Bettina, and Warren's brother, Lyman, and sister, Cora.
