Raymond served over 20 years in the U.S. Air Force, retiring in 1969 as a Chief Master Sergeant. During those years, he'd served in Japan, Libya, the Philippines and the United States. His retirement years were active, as he pursued interests in music, photography, videotaping, computers, oil painting and travel. He was active in the United Methodist Church and the Masonic Order.

In the 1920 Census of Topsfield, Flossie is listed as a ward of the family, living with her future in-laws, Claude and Belle (NARA Microcopy T625, Roll 650, E.D. 164, Page 128A, Dwelling 53, Family 54).
 She worked as a cook at Pierce Pond Camps for many years. Flossie was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Lee, the Tuscan Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star in Bangor, and the People United Methodist Church in Woodland.
