Carl was a barber for several years. When he registered for the Draft in 1917, he stated that he was an automobile dealer No record of this has been located. In 1920, he was operating a boarding home in Troy, Waldo County. In 1921, he was living in Bangor, managing the Scribner Artesian Well Company. His Death Record states he was a "store owner." His death was from a coronary thrombosis.

Cora was a stenographer. This was the third marriage for Elbridge and the second for Cora. Her first husband's name was Fitch.
Elbridge and Cora divorced 28 October 1929 at Dover, New Hampshire. Cora charged him with "conduct seriously affecting health" (NEW HAMPSHIRE RECORD OF DIVORCES. Alphabetized. N.H. Bureau of Vital Records).
Yet a third divorce involving Elbridge is recorded at the Maine State Archives, dated 1944. The wife's name is Edna Kimball.
Elbridge was a traveling insurance agent, and auditor.
