Charles did several types of work during his life time. He worked in a grocery store, he was a surveyor, and a plumber. In 1920, he worked as Paymaster for a Portland shipyard. Then, in 1930, he was the manager of a bowling alley. His death was caused by peritonitis and a gastric ulcer.

Confusion exists regarding Daniel and David A., both of whom are reported to be THE ONLY son of Samuel and Mary, as follows:
(1) David is listed as such in the 1850 Census of Lovell (op. cit.) and in EARLY FAMILIES OF NEWFIELD, MAINE (op. cit.), page 27, where it also indicates that he was born in Naples in 1838.
(2) Daniel is listed as such in the record of his death, 7 February 1892, which appears on page 159 of PORTLAND (ME) VITAL RECORDS, DEATHS Vol. 8, 1885-1895 (op. cit.), which also indicates that he was born in Bethel in 1835 (he died at age 57 of pneumonia). He is buried in Eastern Cemetery in Portland (William B. Jordan, Jr., BURIAL RECORDS 1717-1962 OF THE EASTERN CEMETERY, PORTLAND, MAINE [Bowie, MD: Heritage Books, Inc., 1987], 122). Daniel was a lawyer in Portland.

Ellsworth graduated from Casco High School. For many years, he was caretaker at Camp Powhatan (a summer camp for youth) in Otisfield. He played banjo in the Ansel Morton Band, and was a member of the Otisfield Fire Department. His death at a West Paris nursing home followed a long illness. He never married.

In 1880, Nettie (single and in her 20's) was working at the Oxford Woolen Mill and living with her cousin, Julia (Scribner) Wardwell and her husband, Amos. Also living there, and working at the same woolen mill, was Benjamin Flood (also single and also in his 20's).

George worked in saw mills in the Oxford County area of southwestern Maine. In 1930, he was a foreman in a wood mill in Norway, Maine. Josephine (better known as "Josie") worked as an Inspector at the Norway Shoe Company, retiring in 1929 because of ill health.
